Let’s be clear, my melanin richness is one of my favorite things about myself! However, due to all said queenly melanin, I do have a little bit of hyper pigmentation around my mouth and eyes. I’ve searched far and wide for a solution and although I do have all the orange correctors you could recommend (six last time I checked), I would still love to leave the house beat free whenever I choose.
Being that I’m a skincare junkie, I tried a ton of brightening serums, creams, toners, elixirs and essences that would even my skin tone without lightening my skin tone and have some winners below!
Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream
To be fair, this IS an eye cream but you better believe that at a price of 65 whole American dollars, I’m multitasking the heck out of this. I’m happy to announce that after three months of constant use, this has definitely lightened the darkness around my eyes… and mouth.
Korres Wild Rose Night-Brightening Sleeping Facial
This little pot packs a punch let me tell you! I bought this on a whim when I wanted to take a break from Vitamin C serums wreaking havoc on my face (ahem, Kiehl’s reformulated Vitamin C) and what a great impulse buy it was! It tingled a bit each time I slathered it on but I would wake up to a glow each morning! Definitely recommend for any of you out there who love that morning glow.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
I’ve already written love poems and ballads here and here about how much I love glycolic acid. More specifically how much I love this toner and how its helped even out my skin tone so this is honestly just a staple product for any of you out there who love a robust routine. Don’t sleep on The Ordinary!
Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Glycolic Essence
Now I’m not a fan of the Vinoperfect serum as I bought a bottle and saw jack shit results. However, this essence that came with the serum, BOMB. Apparently it contains an ingredient that has been “proven to be 62 times more effective than vitamin C”. All I know is that the essence slaps. Forget that useless serum and get the essence instead if you’re like me and a deep NW50 J
Sunday Riley C.E.O Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil
I got this for free when I signed up for the allure box and its been a treat since. The oil contains turmeric rich in antioxidants and is supposedly a brightening agent so a win win on all sides. All I know is whenever I use this at the end of my routine to seal in all the amazing serums and essences that I’ve used, my skin GLOWS. Also, it smells heavenly!
I’m still looking for my HG brightening serum but for right now, these are the products I use to combat my hyper pigmentation issues.
